Quantum ad continuationem et expositionem evangelii, sicut heri ecclesia posuit viam qua itur ad paradisum, sic hodie proponit amaritudinem passionis Christi nobis in subsidium. Et secundum hoc tres sunt partes principales:
In prima docetur quomodo passio Christi est imitanda, ibi: ascendens Iesus.
In secunda quomodo postulatio nostra est formanda, ibi: nescitis quid petatis.
In tercia quomodo dominatio temporalis est refutanda, ibi: scitis quia principes.

For what concerns the continuation and exposition of the Gospel, just as yesterday the Church presented a way along which one goes to heaven, today she presents the bitterness of Christ’s Passion for us as an aid. And according to this, there are three main parts:
In the first is taught how the passion of Christ should be imitated, where it says: when Jesus was going up.
In the second how our request should be formulated, where it says: you do not know what you are asking.
In the third how temporal dominion should be refuted, where it says: you know that rulers.
