Translation: |
On the truth of the tremendous judgment, against those who judge wrongly on this matter.
Therefore, in this sermon, we shall strive with all our ingenuity win over the curious and confound the unfaithful, to whom we shall show the truth of the (Last) Judgment through the Holy Scriptures and through the clear words of the Doctors (of the Church). And, to proceed in an orderly manner, we shall notice in this sermon a threefold testimony by which the future Last Judgment is proved:
The first is given by the (Church) Fathers and prophets, for all the Fathers and prophets of the Old Testament predicted by divine inspiration the coming of Christ in order to judge the living and the dead.
The second is given by Christ and the apostles, for Christ and his apostles manifestly foretold the imminence of the Last Judgement, in which all the good and the wicked would be gathered before the court of the Judge.
The third is given by the Church and the Doctors, for all the Doctors of the Holy Church say many terrible and dreadful things about the future Last Judgement.
