On showing mercy to your neighbours and on pious almsgiving.
Since this topic is very useful to penitents, so that they may expiate their sins through almsgivings, therefore in this sermon we shall discuss some things about the almsgiving that Christ asked the samaritan woman saying 'Give me a drink'. On this almsgiving we shall clarify three main mysteries:
The first concerns induction, for seven are the things that induce us to use mercy towards our neighbour and to promptly give alms.
The second concerns condition, since seven are the conditions required so that alms mat be given properly.
The third concerns distinction, since seven are the works of mercy by which one must provide for the needs of one's neighbour.
