Translation: |
On the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ who, albeit being a real human, was also a true God of the same nature as the Father and the Holy Spirit.
So that the light of truth about the true divinity of the son of the Virgin, who hung on the cross for us, may shine out to all, we will announce His divinity in a threefold manner:
Firstly, by authority: for it is proved by the authority of the Old Testament and the Sibyls that Christ was a true God and a true man.
Secondly, by experience, since it is demonstrated by the experience of Christ's miracles his divinity by the kind of works (i.e. supernatural), by the manner (i.e. His virtue and authority), and by the teaching (i.e. the very profession of Christ as the son of God).
Thirdly, by reason, since Christ's divinity is the very reason of the sanctification of souls, the remission of sins, and the creation of the world.
