Primo scriptura.
Secundo figura.
Tertio vera rationis censura.

Translation: |
Hence in this sermon (supported by divine grace) we will reject the mistake of the Jews and confirm the true Christian faith. The mistake of the Jews is chiefly that they deny the true divinity of Christ and the truth of his coming [as messiah]. But we will prove in three ways that Christ is true God and man and the true messiah promised in the Scripture who came truthfully, namely:
First, by Scripture.
Second, by typology [_figura_].
Third, by rational judgment.

The introduction immediately recalls the guilt of the Jews in killing Christ and their request to be responsible of his blood, saying that us they killed him in the past do they continue to do now: «... Christum dominum denegaverunt coram Pilato et pondus ipsius sanguis super se postulaverunt dicentes: Sanguinis eius super nos et super filios nostros [Matthew 27.25]. Unde Christum occiderunt ipsi corde et lingua, filii vero eorum moderni iudei occidunt corde, ipsum odiendo, idcirco sunt absque deo vero, absque sacerdote etc [thema]. (f. s1v) |
Summary in the tabula sermonum: Feria sexta post Reminiscere de errore Iudeorum negantium Christum messiam et eius divinitatem, contrarium tamen probant scriptura, figura et rationis censura valde diffuse. Et incipit: Transibunt autem multi dies in Israel absque Deo vero. Gloriosus ac fructuosus sermo tricesimus quartus.
The sermon mentions that the Jews have been deprived of royal power "usque modo quando scribitur anno domini 1506" (f. s2v), which serves as terminus post quem for the Lenten sermon collection.
