[f. e5v] Notandum quod in peccato vivere malum est specialiter propter quattuor mala que peccatum facit in hominis vita:
1) Primo nanque hominem bonis spiritualibus et temporalibus spoliat;
2) Secundo malis spiritualibus et corporalibus replet et cruciat;
3) Tertio deum ad iracundiam provocat;
4) Quarto hominem bonorum societate privat et spoliat.
[f. e6r] Item nota quod peccatum non solum nocet homini in vita sed etiam in morte. In morte namque occurunt homini quattuor mala. Sepe enim supplantatur et ignominiose moritur, a diabolo capitur, et tunc cruciandus ad Gehennales flammas deducitur. Sed quod gravissimum est a grata dei visione in perpetuum separatur. |
Translation: |
[f. e5v] It must be noted that living in sin is bad mainly because of four evils that sin produces in the lives of human beings:
1) Firstly, it [scil. the sin] deprives the human being of spiritual and temporal goods;
2) Secondly, it fills and torments with spiritual and bodily ills;
3) Thirdly, it moves God to wrath;
4) Fourthly, it deprives the human being of the community of the good.
[f. e6r] Note also that sin not only harms the human being in life, but also in death. In death, in fact, four evils befall the human being. For he is often struck down and dies shamefully, he is seized by the devil, and then he who is to be tortured is led to the flames of hell. But worst of all is that he is separated forever from the vision of God. |
