Introduction After the discussion of the mistakes of heretics, Greeks and Jews, who live without true faith and will be damned, it reamins to discuss «de fidei christiane veritate et dignitate et quod catholica fides soulmmodo sit salutifera». The crown of 12 stars symbolizes the apostolic preaching in the early church as well as the 12 reasons that characterizes Christian faith as irreproachable, namely: "Prima stella est ratio confirmationis Secunda stella est ratio confortationis Tertia setall est ratio subiugationis Quarta stella est ratio adimpletionis Quinta stella est ratio dispersionis Sexta stella est ratio testificationis Septima stella est ratio passionis. Octava stella est ratio ultionis (?) Noba stella est ratio ordinationis. Decima stella est ratio honorationis. Undecima stella est ratio durationis. Duodecima stella est ratio opinionis". (f. x4r) The first four rationes of the superiority of Christian faith are discussed in this sermon, the other eight in the following two sermons, which have the same thema. The first star is discussed at length: the ratio confermationis deals with miracles as evidences of Christian faith. |
