In the preceding sermon we have already explained who are those who provide the effective cause of robbery and theft, and how they are bound to make restitution. Now […] we must turn to those who, according to the rule set forth at the beginning of sermon 33, provide the effective cause of usury […]. Concerning such persons, we may distinguish three kinds: first, those who assist in usury; second, those who recover it; third, those who retain it or hinder its restitution.
