24/1/49 T24 Palm Sunday Bernardino da Siena Divine dispensation ordained that this triumphal title be placed above the cross of the Lord: «Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews». In this title the whole hope of our salvation is signified, according to the threefold nature of our hope: first, the hope of pardon; second, the hope of grace; third, the hope of glory. The first hope, that of pardon, is indicated when it says «King of the Jews», that is, of those who confess. The second hope, that of grace, is expressed when it says «Nazarenus», which is interpreted as “flowering” […]. The third hope, that of glory, is shown in this most holy name Jesus, which is interpreted as “savior” […].  In this title the first form of religiosity – that of the magnified name – is clearly shown. In it, the name of King Jesus is shown to be sweet, gracious, and glorious: sweet because of the hope of pardon, gracious because of the hope of grace, glorious because of the hope of glory.
